Since quartz has an optical rotational dispersion (ORD) almost identical to that of a sucrose solution, SCHMIDT + HAENSCH has developed a unique mechanism that uses a quartz wedge to compensate for small wavelength shifts. In other words, quartz and sample react in the same way to small wavelength shifts, which are automatically compensated for so that the effect becomes irrelevant. This ensures long-term stable, high-precision measurement results without the need for recalibration during the lifetime of the instrument. In addition to unnecessary recalibration, the Saccharomat V uses an energy-saving LED, keeping maintenance to a minimum. The functionality of the instrument can be monitored using triple quartz control plates.
